Nebraska Drivers Can Check their Driver License Points Online at ClickDMV

LINCOLN, Neb.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced a new online service which can save thousands of people from having to call the DMV for information about their driving privileges.

Nebraskans have been able to pay driver license reinstatement fees and check the status of their driver license online since 2008. Now, the service has been enhanced to allow users to check their Ignition Interlock Permit Eligibility. Also new are major enhancements to the design of the application, making it more user-friendly and accessible on mobile devices, all available on ClickDMV.

Nebraska drivers who have received a DUI and may be eligible to obtain an Ignition Interlock Permit (IIP) to continue their driving privileges can apply through the DMV. In the past these individuals needed to call or visit the DMV to find out if and when they would become eligible for the permit. In 2012 the DMV answered 86,240 phone calls relating to Ignition Interlock Permit eligibility, driver license reinstatement requirements and payments; as well as driver license status checks, driver license points and SR-22 insurance requirements. The enhanced ClickDMV service for Driver Privilege Services allows Nebraska drivers to instantly obtain this information online using their computer, tablet or smartphone.

“Allowing Nebraskans to access the information they need, when they need it, and instantly has benefited the Financial Responsibility Division of the DMV since the initial launch of the Reinstatement service,” Says Rhonda K. Lahm, Director of the Department of Motor Vehicles. “With the volume of phone calls the department receives, every phone call not received means a shorter wait time for customers needing to speak with a staff member. By allowing people to find out what is needed to qualify for an IIP online coupled with the refreshed enhancements overall, we expect our call volume to decrease and that benefits everyone.”
